.THE WRITE TO READ: Response Journals that Increase Comprehension (Corwin Press)
My first book follows a year of introducing before, during, and after-reading response strategies to my students. With just 5-minute personal, informal journalings as reader response, teachers are able to see if, what, and, most importantly for lesson planning, how students are reading. According to the Carnegie Report “Writing to Read” and my classroom observations, writing about what they read increases readers' comprehension.
